My heart is beating erratically. I look back over my shoulder at the flashing lights of the Federation vehicle. It’s blaring siren adds to the rapid beats my heart was already making before its appearance.

The call back home to Ebony didn’t quite go as expected. I was so excited to share all that has happened so far on my date, but instead of stopping to think about what Ebony might not deem appropriate behaviour because I’m so out of touch with what is the norm or what’s morally acceptable in today’s society, I just blurted everything out in a jumble of verbal diarrhea.

Reapa’s face had dropped when I mentioned the alley incident. Does he still think I can’t look after myself? Or does he think I’m delusional because I said I thought alley man and the main thief are the same man? Anyway, I don’t care what he thinks about that. I might be behind the times with my technological and socialising skills, but my visual and auditory skills are finely tuned after my many years of tracking down and hunting my own food.

I rest my cheek on his back and smell him. I love that he smells of animal hide, and his other smell—the spicy, rich musk that makes my heart and my pussy flutter. His hand reaches back from the handlebar down to my thigh and squeezes it. It’s such a small act of reassurance, but it sends a mini current from my thigh right through the whole of my body, which makes every cell come alive. His hair billows in the wind and I swear the gold highlights amongst his black locks shimmer.

The sirens get louder. The Feds are closing in. Reapa begins to swerve the hover bike through a row of parked vehicles to enter a pedestrian only area. Shrieks and angry shouts come from left and right from the people moving out of the way. My heart is practically jumping out of my chest. This is such a buzz. The sirens stop getting louder and I look back to see the Fed vehicle stationary by the parked vehicles.

I laugh and tap Reapa’s back. “They can’t follow us in here. I think we’ll be able to lose them!”

But I speak too soon. Two Federation hover bikes ride towards us. Reapa glances back over his shoulder at me. “Hold on tight!”

I don’t need asking twice. I gladly hug his solid torso. He’s a mountain of a man and I dare say, just as strong as one. Ever since I met him, I’ve felt all kinds of weird things going on in my body, like he’s the fuel feeding me. He keeps referring to me as his mate and even after denouncing this statement to his face moments ago, citing all I want is thrills on this date; I know deep in my gut I want much more from him. The strange thing is, I felt the exact same thing for the masked thief as I do for Reapa, and like Reapa, I had the same insta-attraction and connection.
